Power Division under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MPEMR) has spent 101.82 per cent of the revised annual development programme (RADP) works during fiscal year (FY) 2023-24, an implementation progress meeting of the division revealed Monday.
The division spent Tk 306.09 billion during FY’24 against the allocation of Tk 300.63 billion to implement some 64 development projects of the power division in the RADP, the meeting sources said.
State Minister for the MPEMR Nasrul Hamid appreciated the performance of the power division during the meeting saying it was necessary to implement programmes through plan-wise monthly targets.
Speaking as the chief guest Mr Hamid also underscored the necessity of setting up a dedicated communication infrastructure for power sector to ensure smooth operations of the utility services.
Bill payment system along with other necessary works could be done smoothly once own communication system established, he said.
Cyber security and physical security issues should be taken urgently, Mr Hamid stressed.
Chaired by Power Division senior secretary Md Habibur Rahman the meeting was attended among others by the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) chairman Munira Sultana, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) chairman Md Mahbubur Rahman, Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) chairman Ajay Kumar Chakraborty, and director general (DG) of Power Cell Mohammad Hossain.
