The price of green chillies has hit a record high of Tk 700 per kg in the capital's kitchen markets on Sunday.
Traders blame the supply crunch and crop damage caused by bad weather for the abnormal price hike, according to local media reports.
In an attempt to control the soaring price of this essential vegetable, the government announced the import of green chillies ahead of Eid. However, the impact of this measure on lowering the price is yet to be seen.
