Thousands of demonstrators under the banner of the ‘Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’ took to the streets in different parts of the capital on Saturday to press home their 9-point demand.
In Aftabnagar, hundreds of protestors are protesting in front of East West University blocking one side of the road in front of the university.
They started gathering in front of the university from 10:30 am on Saturday.
A huge number of police were seen deployed in front of the gate of the East West University.
In Khilgaon, the students took position on the road below the flyover in the Khilgaon Railgate area protesting the recent killings and demanding justice around 11:45 am.
They chanted slogans of "Bhua, Bhua" against a policeman who went to talk to them.
Later, another police officer went and requested them to protest without violence. Students congratulated him by clapping their hands.
In Science Lab intersection, students occupied roads at the intersection as part of the programme of the anti-discrimination student movement.
They brought out processions against the mass killings and arrests.
One of the protestors said, 'We are here to protest peacefully. We believe that the police will not attack us.”
In Mirpur, students and parents participated in the protest called by the anti-discrimination student movement. They are protesting in Mirpur-10 goal square of the capital.
Students of the Bangladesh University of Professionals and Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) started coming to the area after 11:00 am.
At this time, they started shouting slogans.
In Shantinagar, students from various schools and colleges on Saturday staged a demonstration blocking the Baily Road intersection.
Students from nearby schools and colleges including Vikarunnisa Noon School and College, and Habibullah Bahar College, participated in the demonstration.
