Quader unveils final list of AL candidates

General Secretary of Awami League (AL) Obaidul Quader has announced the list of AL-led candidates for 298 constituencies, with two seats -- Kushtia-2 and Narayanganj-5 -- left vacant for the 12th parliamentary elections.

He unveiled the names in a press briefing at Awami League's central office in Bangabandhu Avenue around 4:00 pm.

Sheikh Hasina will once again contest the Gopalganj-3 seat, while General Secretary Obaidul Quader will vie for Noakhali-5.

The ruling party started the sale of nomination forms among its aspirant candidates to contest in the 12th parliamentary elections from November 18.

Earlier, on November 21, AL Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua told reporters that the party has sold 3,362 nomination papers after the end of the selling of nomination forms,

Each nomination form's price was Tk 50,000.

Among them, 121 aspirants collected forms online, while the rest collected the forms from the AL's central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.

The Election Commission has established the deadline for the submission of nomination papers as November 30.
