Eighteen researchers have received PhD degree and ten others MPhil from Dhaka University (DU) in recent times.
The degrees were approved at a Syndicate meeting on February 1, presided over by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan. The information was confirmed in a press release, issued by the university's Public Relations Office.
The PhD recipients are: Kazi Farjana Afreen from the Department of Islamic Studies; Ratna Rani Dash from the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies; Mandira Chowdhury from the Department of Philosophy; Anita Helen from the Department of Information Science and Library Management; Md. Rowshan Alam from the Department of Music; Md. Abdul Bari from the Department of Microbiology; Mosammat Umme Habiba from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; Md. Habibur Rahman from the Department of Botany; Sayma Suraiya from the Department of Mathematics; Nargis Parveen from the Department of Chemistry; Shamshad Naurin and Sultana Shahida Abedeen from the Department of Banking and Insurance; Md. Sahedul Islam from the Department of Management; Shafiqul Islam Faisal from the Department of Nuclear Engineering; Gobinda Chandra Mondal from the Department of Law; Md. Masudur Rahman from the Institute of Information Technology; and Saeeda Haque and Nasrin Sultana from the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science.
The MPhil degree recipients are: Muhammad Abdul Aziz and Farhana Siddiqui from the Department of Islamic History and Culture; Shamima Akter Suma from the Department of Philosophy; Ragib Nayeem from the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies; Azima Begum from the Department of Economics; Mosammat Khodeza Begum from the Department of Political Science; Tahsina Tabassum from the Department of Organisation Strategy and Leadership; Masnadoul Ferdous and Tarannum Fatema Chowdhury from the Institute of Modern Languages; and Jannatul Afroze from the Institute of Social Welfare and Research.
In addition, Najra Mahjabeen Sabet from the Department of Organisation Strategy and Leadership has been awarded a DBA degree.
