48 students of Dhaka University from various Faculty of Environmental Sciences departments were awarded the 'Dean's Award.' Besides, 6 faculty teachers were awarded for outstanding research at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhavan at DU today.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal was present as chief guest.
Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Prof. Dr. Zillur Rahman, presided over the event. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof. Dr Sitesh Chandra Bachar and Treasurer Professor Mumtaz Uddin Ahmed were also present.
Professor Maksud Kamal urged the students to play an effective role in natural resource extraction and sustainable management.
"To explore natural resources, students should conduct contemporary research on environment, climate, geological
resources and marine resources", he added.
DU VC also urged the meritorious students to work for the nation's welfare.
