BUBT Economics Department Hosts Insightful Session on "Research Methodology: Economic Advancement in Real Life" During Research Week of the University

The Department of Economics at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized a keynote session titled "Research Methodology: Advancement in Real Life" as part of its Research Week festivities. The event featured esteemed academics who shared critical insights on contemporary research practices.
The session was graced by Prof. Dr. A.K.M. Enamul Haque as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker. In his address, Prof. Haque emphasized the necessity for economists to conduct in-depth studies on advanced research techniques. He stated that researchers focusing on human behavior must uphold the highest academic standards. Prof. Haque highlighted the paramount importance of truthful and accurate data collection, noting that the Best Linear Unbiased Estimator (BLUE) is foundational for reliable econometric analysis. He further affirmed that a PhD is essential for cultivating expertise and becoming a proficient teacher.
The program was presided over by Prof. Dr. Mahmudul Hassan, Chairman of the Department of Economics. In his remarks, Prof. Hassan stressed the critical need for rigorous data validation in all economic research.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, a Post-Doctorate scholar, addressed the audience on the significance of cultivating a dedicated research mindset. He reinforced the university's overarching academic mission, stating, "Do research, otherwise perish," underscoring BUBT's commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture.
Adding to the discussion, Mahmuda Jahan Papia, Assistant Professor, emphasized the importance of leveraging cutting-edge tools and methodologies to conduct impactful and relevant research.
The event was well-attended, with 19 faculty members from the Department of Economics and approximately 75 students from the MSc and BSc in Economics programs participating actively. The session provided a valuable platform for dialogue, inspiring both faculty and students to pursue rigorous and ethically grounded research.
