BUET students continued their class and exam boycott for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, demanding visible action against individuals accused of involvement with Chhatra League politics.

In response, the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) administration cancelled the dormitory seats of students linked to the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). Following complaints from BUET students, the administration issued letters to the accused students informing them of the decision to revoke their dormitory seats.

BUET's Director of Student Welfare (DSW), Mohammad Al Amin Siddique, stated that the seat cancellations were aimed at maintaining peace and order in the dormitories. However, the exact number of seats cancelled remains unconfirmed.

BUET students confirmed that they had centrally filed complaints against 55 individuals. Additionally, some other seats were cancelled, involving individuals who were not part of the central complaints. Nonetheless, all those against whom complaints were filed had their seats revoked, and all were associated with the Chhatra League in some capacity.

A BUET student, who wished to remain anonymous, said, "We will hold a meeting tonight and then make further decisions."

Earlier, BUET students had declared their refusal to attend classes or exams until visible action was taken.

BUET Vice-Chancellor Abu Borhan Mohammad Badruzzaman declined to comment on the matter.

However, the Director of Student Welfare (DSW) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Mohammad Al Amin Siddique urged students to return to class, stating that the investigation committee's work was ongoing.
