A team of 50 students of Business Administration Department of East Delta University (EDU) on Tuesday visited the office of Chittagong Stock Exchange PLC (CSE) at Agrabad in Chittagong to acquire practical knowledge about the operation and other aspects of the capital market.
A press release says the CSE often invites all related to this field as part of guidelines of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the regulatory authority of the country’s capital market.
The CSE officials who were present on the occasion include its managing director (acting) Md. Golam Faruq, chief regulatory officer (CRO) Mohammad Mahadi Hasan, CFA, Head of Listing Compliance, Clearing and Settlement AKM Shahroj Alom, Head of Inspection and Enforcement Arif Ahmed, Head of Corporate Finance Mohammad Nazmul Hossain, FCMA, Manager Adnan Abdul Rakib, and professor of business administration department of EDU Prof. A Qayum Chowdhury.
M. Sadek Ahmed, head of training and awareness, moderated the programme.
Mohammad Golam Faruq said today’s students will be investors in the future’s capital market. That’s why it is very important to acquire knowledge and research about the capital market during student life.
He hoped students will continue to visit stock exchange to enhance their knowledge, with which they will play a due role in building the nation.
Other speakers apprise students of different current products of the capital market. Besides, issues relating to financial plan, risk, and making awareness about capital market-related returns were also discussed with the students.
In his presentation, M Sadek Ahmed focused on the overall issues of the market.
Later, CRO and departmental heads replied to questions from the students.
All participants agreed such programmes on capital markets should be held frequently.
