Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leaders and activists of Jahangirnagar University (JU) locked six gates, including the main entrance of the university today.

The entryways were locked at 7:30 am as part of a three-day nationwide blockade called by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). However, within less than an hour, the university administration removed all the locks and restraints.

The activists of the student wing of BNP locked the main gate (Dairy Gate), Joy Bangla Gate (Prantik Gate), Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall adjacent gate, Bishmail Gate, Islamnagar gate, and Ambagan entryway.

According to the guards on duty, at around 7:30 am, some Chhatra Dal activists arrived on motorcycles and locked the gates. They also hung banners with the words 'Sorbattok Oborodh' alongside the locks.

Iqbal Hossain, Zobair Al Mahmud, Naimul Hasan Kaushik, Rezaul Amin, Sahanur Rahman, MR Murad, Rajan Mia, Nishat Abdullah, MuttashinFuad, Raju, Alamin, and other JU Chhatra Dal activists were present at the time of locking.

They said that JU Chhatra Dal has carried out this program as part of the nationwide blockade called by the central organisation BNP.

Assistant Proctor Moudud Ahmed said, "I noticed that the gate of Mir Mosharraf Hussain Hall was locked. Later, I arrived at the dairy gate and observed a lock with a Chhatra Dal banner attached, but we couldn't identify the person responsible for locking it."

"I immediately requested the security guards to remove the locks. This was necessary because university buses needed access, and students were about to attend their classes. I've also instructed the security office to unlock all gates as quickly as possible to restore normal academic activities at the university", he remarked.
