University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Dr. SMA Faiz has said that China continues to play a vital role in the development of Bangladesh’s education sector.
He emphasized that the longstanding relationship between Bangladesh and China is built on trust, mutual respect, and cooperation.
Speaking as the chief guest at a reception for Bangladeshi students awarded Chinese government scholarships, organized by the Embassy of China in Dhaka and the Association of Bangladesh-China Alumni (ABCA) at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon on Monday, Professor Faiz highlighted China’s consistent contributions to Bangladesh’s progress.
“China has been tirelessly supporting Bangladesh’s development, particularly in the field of education, which has significantly contributed to the modernization and quality enhancement of our education system,” he said.
He added that China’s continued cooperation and investment have also been instrumental in the country’s economic growth, infrastructure development, and human resource capacity building.
Expressing optimism, Professor Faiz noted that bilateral ties would further deepen in the coming years, expanding collaboration in education, research, technology, and culture, ultimately bringing greater benefits to the people of both nations.
As part of the programme, Bangladeshi swimmer Najmul Haque Himel, who successfully crossed the English Channel this year, was honored with a crest and an achievement award certificate.
Among others present were ABCA Vice President and Dhaka University Professor of Management Information Systems Dr. Rakibul Haque; Joint Secretary and Lifelong Hospital Managing Director Dr. Kawsar Swapon; Joint Secretary and Wuhan University PhD researcher Maruf Hasan; Social Welfare Secretary and Dhaka University Institute of Modern Languages (IML) faculty member Jannatun Nahar; and Chinese Embassy Cultural Attaché Mr. Nilambar.
