DIU arranges BFF-Samakal Science Innovation Fair

Daffodil International University (DIU) organised a two-day long ‘BFF-Samakal Science Innovation Fair-2017-2018’ on its campus, ended on Tuesday.

Mustafa Jabbar, minister, Ministry of Post, telecommunication & ICT, was present at the closing and award giving ceremony of the fair as the chief guest.

The ICT minister handed over prizes among the winners of the science fair held at 71 Milonayoton of the university.

Selected 10 projects were awarded from 500 projects of 60 schools across the country, according to a statement.

Golam Sarwar, Editor of The Daily Samakal, presided over the programme, while Dr Md Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees of DIU, Dr Rezaur Rahman, scientist, Dr Zeba Islam Shiraz, Faculty member of  University of Dhaka, Sazzadur Rahman, CEO of Bangladesh Freedom Foundation, were present there as the special guests.

Laila Simran, a student of Nabarun High School of Satkhira, became champion of the ‘BFF-Samakal Science Innovation Fair-2017-2018.’

Residential Model School team clinched the first runner up, while, Monipur High School team was awarded as the second runner up, and Motijheel Boys High School team gained the third runner up prize.

Mostafa Zabbar said, “We have to build a knowledge-based society if we want to rise up our country as developed country within 2041.”

“For knowledge-based society we need creativity. And this kind of science fair can open the path of creativity,” the minister said.

Earlier, Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, author and professor of Shahjalal University of Science & Technology inaugurated the fair.
