DU expels student for six months over rape threat to DUCSU candidate

Dhaka University (DU) has expelled a student for six months for threatening a female DUCSU candidate with gang rape on social media.
In a press release issued on Wednesday morning, the university authorities said that Ali Husen, a student of the 2020–21 academic session at the Department of Sociology, used abusive language and made threats against a female student online.
Following the recommendations of a proctorial investigation committee, the university administration decided to expel him.
Ali Husen, with class roll 54 and registration number 2020212768, is a resident student of Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Haq Hall.
The press release further said that the allegation against him has also been referred to the university’s Anti-sexual Harassment Cell for further action.
