The authorities have decided to begin online classes at Dhaka University (DU) from today (Sunday) in order to keep academic activities running smoothly at all levels in corollary to the recent earthquakes that jolted the country.

The announcement was made through a notice issued by the university's Public Relations Office on Saturday.

According to the notice, starting from Sunday, department chairmen and institute directors will begin online classes in coordination with their respective deans. Online classes will continue until further instructions are issued.

The notice also mentioned that decisions regarding the winter vacation will be announced later, based on the recommendations of an inspection team formed with engineers to assess and repair buildings damaged by the recent earthquake and aftershocks.

Earlier, due to the emergency situation that emerged after the earthquake, Dhaka University was declared closed until 6 December.
