All classes and examinations at the Dhaka University (DU) have been suspended from Monday (March 9) until the Eid holidays (March 28) in accordance with the directive of the Ministry of Education (MoE).

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Syndicate on Sunday night with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan in the chair. The matter was confirmed through a press release, issued by the university's Public Relations Office, later that night.

According to the statement, the meeting discussed the government's notification and a letter from the University Grants Commission. In line with the directive of the MoE, all classes and examinations have been suspended from Monday until the Eid holidays.

Meanwhile, another press release issued on Monday said the university offices would remain open as usual until March 12.

The notice also requested all concerned to keep unnecessary electrical appliances, including lights, fans, and air-conditioners, switched off during the office hours to ensure efficient use of electricity.
