Government lower secondary and secondary educational institutions are reopening on Sunday after a 12-day holiday for Durga Puja. Public and private colleges will reopen on Sunday, and primary school classes will resume on Monday.
The Durga Puja holidays began on September 28.
On Wednesday morning, Mojibur Rahman Babu, head teacher at Dhaka’s BTCL Ideal School, said: “We resumed classes this morning. The student attendance is good.
“We completed the cleaning work ahead of time. Mosquito insecticide has been sprayed at different spots around the school because of dengue and chikungunya concerns.”
Public and private colleges also began their holiday on September 28 and have a 14-day break until Sunday, according to a bdnews24.com report.
Mezbahul Islam Prince, a higher secondary teacher at the Motijheel Model School and College’s Basabo branch, said: “Classes began in the school section this morning. College classes will resume from Sunday.”
The technical schools and madrasas under the SSC Technical Education Board and the Dakhil Vocational unit also reopened on Wednesday after a holiday from October 1 to October 7.
HSC Vocational, BM, BMT Vocational Colleges and Diploma Level Polytechnic Institutes are to reopen on Monday.
