Islamic University (IU) has expelled three students for one year for their involvement in a ragging incident in the campus.
The expelled students are Sagar Pramanik and Md Uzzal of the Department of Islamic History and Culture and Mudassir Khan Kafi of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science. All of them are the students of the 2021–22 academic year and activists of the university unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
According to a notification issued by acting registrar of the university, HM Ali Hasan, on Sunday, the decisions were taken at the 13th meeting of the university's disciplinary committee last Thursday as per the recommendation of an inquiry committee.
A student was allegedly ragged and tortured on the night of last February 7. Later, the university authorities formed a committee to probe into the incident.
