The English Language Club (ELC) of the Department of English at International Standard University (ISU) held the inauguration of its 4th Executive Club Committee and its annual iftar mahfil on Saturday (March 22). The event marked the transition of leadership within the club and provided an opportunity for community gathering and reflection, according to a press release.
The guests of honour included Prof HTM Quader Newaz, Treasurer of ISU, and Prof Md Asad ullah-al-Hussain, Advisor to the Department of English. Mohammad Faizullah Kawshik, Registrar of ISU, attended as the special guest. The event was chaired by Sultana Musfika Rahman, senior lecturer and chairperson (in charge) of the Department of English.
The programme began with a recitation from the Holy Qur'an, followed by speeches from the former and new club presidents. The outgoing committee was acknowledged, and the new committee was introduced. Prof Md Asad ullah-al-Hussain presented crests, certificates, and flowers to the committee members as a recognition for their work.
The newly elected committee, led by President Abdullah Al Masum and General Secretary MD Omar Faruk, will serve for the Spring and Fall 2025 tenure.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Syeda Bhumika Mahmud, senior lecturer and club moderator, who expressed appreciation to the guests, students, and supporters. The event also served as a platform to promote the admission of new students. This was followed by a prayer (du'a) and an Islamic discussion.
