IU English dept gets new chairman

Professor Mossamad Salma Sultana has been appointed as the new chairman of English department of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia.

A charge handing-over ceremony was held at Rabindra-Nazrul Kola Bhoban in the campus at around 11:00am on Sunday where IU Vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari was present as the chief guest.

Pro-vice-chancellor Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, treasurer Professor M Selim Toha, IUTA president Professor M Kamal Uddin attended the programme as the special guests with Professor AHM Aktarul Islam Zillu in the chair, reports UNB.

English department Professor Miah M Rashiduzzaman moderated the programme attended by hundreds of teachers and students of the department including Social Science Faculty dean Professor Nasim Banu and Business Administration Faculty dean Professor Arbinda Saha.

Earlier, the university authorities appointed her to the post as the tenure of previous chairman Professor AHM Aktarul Islam Zillu has been completed.
