Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Bangladesh on May 18, 2025.
The MoU was facilitated by the Department of Accounting to establish course waiver opportunities for IUB Accounting students pursuing the ACCA qualification, according to a media release.
During the signing ceremony on the university campus, IUB Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Tamim and ACCA Bangladesh Country Manager Prawma Tapashi Khan, FCCA, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.
Dr. Maqbool Kader Quraishi, Head of the Department of Accounting, delivered the opening remarks and introduced the guests.
Prof. Tamim emphasized the importance of academic-industry collaboration to support student outcomes.
Dr. Raisul Awal Mahmood, Dean of IUB’s School of Business and Entrepreneurship, spoke on the long-term value of such institutional agreements.
Prawma Khan discussed the growing need for professional accountants in Bangladesh and acknowledged the collaboration.
This agreement follows prior MoUs signed with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) in 2019 and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) in 2024.
The program concluded with an exchange of tokens of appreciation between IUB and ACCA Bangladesh. From IUB, Prof. Dr. Daniel W. Lund, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Dr. Rushdi Md Rezaur Razzaque, Associate Professor; Dr. Nushrat Jahan, Assistant Professor; Md. Safiuddin, Senior Lecturer; Naveed Adnan Siddiquee, Senior Lecturer and Coordinator; and Md. Tanvir Islam, Lecturer, attended the program.
ACCA Bangladesh was represented by Shah Waliul Manzoor, Senior Business Development Manager, and Syeda Sadia Afroze, Customer Operations, South Asia.
