IUB holds seminar on climate change

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) recently organised a seminar titled ‘The role of the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) at the IUB in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and plans for the 26thannual Conference of Parties (COP26)’.

Prof Saleemul Huq, Director, ICCCAD, IUB presented the Key Note in the event held on Monday last in Bashundhara R/A, Dhaka.

Ms Judith Herbertson, Head, DFID-Bangladesh; Mr Sudipto Mukerjee, Resident Representative, UNDP-Bangladesh; Dr Nurul Quadir, Additional Secretary (retired), Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change also discussed various aspects of climate change and made implementable suggestions for upcoming Conference of Parties, said a media release.

Mr A Matin Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB and Prof Milan Pagon, Vice Chancellor (Acting), IUB were present as guests and also assured to provide all necessary supports to conduct effective researches.

Prof Md Abdul Khaleque, Dean, SESM, IUB was the moderator of the seminar.

Later, the floor was open for question-answer session where faculties, researchers, representatives from various NGO’s and IUB students discussed many significant issues of climate change.

Deans, senior members of the faculty and administration and full-house students attended the extremely vital programme.
