IUBAT Professor Dr Golam Rasul ranked among world's top 2pc of scientists

Dr Golam Rasul, Professor and Chair of the Department of Economics at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), has been recognized among the world’s top 2 percent of scientists in 2024, according to a prestigious list published by Stanford University and Elsevier Science. This recognition is based on a comprehensive evaluation of publications, citations, and the overall impact of each scientist, according to a press release Thursday.
Joining IUBAT in 2022, Dr Rasul previously served as Chief Economist at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), a prominent research organisation in Asia. His extensive experience also includes over 15 years in Bangladesh’s Civil Service Administration Cadre, where he worked across various ministries and in field administration.
Dr Rasul holds a BSc (Honours) and MSc in Economics from Jahangirnagar University, along with a PhD from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. His diverse research portfolio includes critical areas such as agriculture, food security, environmental issues, rural development, and poverty alleviation.
He has authored around 200 papers in esteemed international journals, and his findings have influenced numerous national and global policy documents. Notably, he is the first Bangladeshi to serve as a Coordinating Lead Author for a report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
In addition to his academic and research achievements, Dr Rasul is a frequent contributor to national and international policy debates, providing expert insights and analysis on various issues. His opinions have been featured in numerous national and international newspapers.
