Jahangirnagar University and NSDA to conduct joint skill development projects

Jahangirnagar University has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA). The agreement was signed by Treasurer Professor Dr Rasheda Akhtar on behalf of Jahangirnagar University and by Member of NSDA and Joint Secretary to the Government, Md Johar Ali.
The MoU outlines a collaborative effort between NSDA and Jahangirnagar University to conduct research and training programmes. These initiatives will address the demand for job skills in both local and international markets, provide certificate training for students in various market-relevant professions, transform university teachers into master trainers, revise and update the university curriculum to align with industry needs, and promote joint research and skill development projects between academia and industry. Additionally, the partnership aims to develop skills among university officials and staff.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Nurul Alam praised the prime minister's 'Smart Bangladesh' vision, describing it as an example of innovative leadership. He highlighted the university's 'Smart Jahangirnagar Campus' initiative as part of this vision, aimed at implementing IT-based skill development programmes to prepare students for future job markets.
He hoped that the MoU with NSDA would help equip students with the skills required for success in both domestic and global employment markets.
The signing ceremony took place at the Prime Minister's Office on Tuesday at noon, with several notable attendees. The attendees included Professor Dr Md Nurul Alam, Vice Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University; Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University; Professor Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq, Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration) of Jahangirnagar University; Professor Bashir Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Professor Dr KM Mahiuddin of the Department of Government and Politics; Mohammad Tofazzel Hossain Miah, Chairperson of NSDA’s Executive Committee and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister; and Nasreen Afroz, NSDA Executive Chairman and Secretary to the Government.
