Face-to-face academic activities of the freshers of Jahangirnagar University will commence on February 1. Two days after the freshers boycotted 'online' classes, it was informed in a notification of the authority on Thursday.
The notification signed by Syed Muhammad Ali Reza, Deputy Registrar (Academic) and Member Secretary of the Central Admission Management Committee, states that the dormitories will be allocated to first-year Bachelor (Honours) students for the academic year 2022-2023 on January 31.
The allotment details will be published on the university admission website bachelor.ju-admission.org. Once the notification is issued, students must report if allotted and proceed to their respective halls.
On the same day, progressive teachers and students organized a human chain, calling for the proper allocation of valid seats to freshmen in the dormitories and the expulsion of students with unauthorized residence.
On January 16, the fresh students of the 52nd batch (2022-2023 session) boycotted online classes, urging an immediate commencement of in-person classes.
The admission test for the 52nd batch took place from June 18 to June 22 the previous year. Due to an accommodation crisis, the university authorities decided to start 'online' classes instead of 'in-person' classes for the new batch starting on November 30, six months after the admission test.
Despite the initial plan to begin in-person classes in January, the JU administration could not start the classes on time.
