JU Journalists' Association election held, President Uzzal, Secretary Himu

Jahangirnagar University Journalists' Association (JUJA) executive council elections for the session 2023-24 have been held. 

ArifuzzamanUzzal, university correspondent of The Daily Ittefaq, and Imran Hossain Himu of Daily Manabzamin were elected as the committee's President and General Secretary, respectively. 

On Sunday (June 11) at 12:30 pm, Chief Election Commissioner and Professor of the Department of Mathematics, Dr Md. Laek Sazzad Andallah announced the election results. Leaders and workers of various university political, social and cultural organizations visited the election.

Earlier, the polling started at 9:30 am in the office of the Journalist Association of the University's Teachers-Students Center (TSC) in a festive atmosphere and continued till 12.

During the visit to the election, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr Nurul Alam, said, "The election of JU Journalists' Association has set a precedent. Members of the organization are electing their leaders in a democratic process, which deserves praise."

Other members of the Executive Council are- Shahadat Hossain (New Age) as Vice-President, Joint-General Secretary MahbubSardar (jagonews24.com), MehediMamun (BonikBarta) as Treasurer and Office and Publication Secretary Md. Nasir Uddin Shikder (Manobkantha).

Besides, Al-Amin Hossain Rubel (Channel I Online), Abdul Mannan (Daily Protidiner Bangladesh), and Bayezid Hasan Rakib (Daily Inqilab) have elected executive members.

Mohammad RezaulRakib, Associate Professor of the Department of Geography and Environment of the university and Yusuf Harun, Associate Professor of the Finance and Banking Department, served as assistant election commissioner in the election.
