The admission test for the academic year 2023-24 at Jahangirnagar University (JU) concluded yesterday (Thursday), featuring the 'B' Unit exam under the Faculty of Social Sciences & Faculty of Law, entrance exam of IBA, & 'E' unit exam under the Faculty of Business Studies. The tests spanned the entire day with five shifts.
The 'B' Unit exam offers admission opportunities in social science disciplines and law, including Law and Justice, Economics, Anthropology, Geography and Environment, Government and Politics, Urban and Regional Planning, and Public Administration. The 'B' Unit, offering 193 seats each for males and females, saw 7,830 male and 9,886 female applicants.
In the IBA, 2,260 male applicants and 1,286 female applicants compete for 25 seats each for both boys and girls in their BBA program. Regarding the 'E' Unit, which comprises four departments (Finance and Banking, Accounting and Information Systems, Marketing, and Management Studies), there are 7,154 male applicants and 5,529 female applicants vying for 100 seats each for males and females.
Yesterday, during the final day of this year's admission test, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Nurul Alam inspected the examination venues at the Microbiology and Chemistry department buildings. Accompanying him were Pro VC (Admin.) Prof. Sheikh Md. Monzurul Huq, Pro VC (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mostafa Feeroz, and Treasurer Prof. Dr. Rasheda Akhtar. The Vice-Chancellor remarked that the admission test proceeded smoothly and peacefully.
The practical test for the C1 unit under the Department of Drama and Dramatics is scheduled from March 3 to March 5, while the Fine Arts department's practical test will take place on March 5.
The admission test for the academic year 2023-2024 at JU commenced on February 22 with the 'A' unit exam under the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and Institute of Information Technology (IIT).
In total, there are 1,844 seats available, evenly distributed, with 922 seats for male students and 922 for female students.
The number of applicants for these seats amounts to 197,851 individuals, resulting in an average of 108 candidates competing for each available seat in this year's admission test. All relevant information and results are available on the university's admission website, ju-admission.org.
