The Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) successfully hosted its first National Research Conclave on Sunday (October 1). The event aimed to promote research culture in Bangladesh, encourage young researchers and provide a platform for academic exchange, according to an ISPR press release.
Major General Md Nasim Parvez, Commandant of MIST, presided over the closing ceremony and awarded prizes to outstanding researchers. The conclave encompassed various fields of engineering and applied sciences, attracting participation from students and faculty from nine leading universities in Bangladesh.
The conclave covered various fields of engineering and applied sciences, attracting participation from students and faculty from nine other universities, including BUET, RUET, KUET, AUST, IUT, University of Dhaka, BUP, AIUB, and Sonargaon University.
This event aimed to provide emerging researchers and scientists with a platform to exchange ideas and experiences, focusing on practical issues in mechanical, manufacturing, aeronautical, naval, and energy engineering, as well as recent innovations.
The conclave received 69 abstracts, from which 55 were selected for oral and poster presentations. Ultimately, 35 abstracts were registered for these presentations, resulting in a total of 24 oral presentations and 11 poster presentations. The conference showcased 22 research papers and 11 research posters, marking a significant achievement at the national level in Bangladesh. Awards for the best research paper and poster were conferred based on judges’ evaluations.
Notably, undergraduate students played vital organisational roles during the national conference. Their involvement helped them acquire essential skills in organising, teamwork, and collaboration. This experience is expected to inspire other students to engage in similar initiatives in the future, ultimately enhancing the academic and research reputation of Bangladeshi universities internationally and improving their rankings.
