NeXTor 2.0 concludes with over 30 universities competing in real-time investment challenge

NeXTor 2.0, an inter-university real-time capital market investment competition, concluded successfully in Dhaka, drawing participation from more than 30 universities across the country.
Sponsored by City Bank PLC in association with City Brokerage Limited, and supported by 11 partner organisations, the competition—organised by the East West University Investment and Finance Club—engaged more than 260 teams comprising over 750 undergraduate students in hands-on trading, analysis, and risk management.
The initiative reinforced the growing importance of practical financial education in preparing students for real-world investment challenges.
The closing and prize-giving ceremony of NeXTor 2.0 was held on Sunday at the Monzur Elahi Auditorium, East West University.
The ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, East West University, as the ‘Chief Guest’. Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice Chancellor of East West University, attended as the ‘Program Chair’.
The event was further honored by the presence of Mamun Rashid, Chairman of Financial Excellence Limited and former Managing Director & City Country Officer of Citibank N.A., Bangladesh, as the ‘Special Guest’.
The ceremony was also attended by the club’s Moderator Leo Vashkor Dewri. Along with faculty members, organizers, participants, and students from various universities.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, praised NeXTor 2.0 as a timely and visionary initiative that equips students with essential financial literacy and practical exposure to the capital market.
Expressing appreciation for the organisers and participants, he hoped NeXTor would continue to inspire innovation and strengthen Bangladesh’s future financial ecosystem.
In the very beginning, the Founding Moderator, Mr. Leo Vashkor Dewri, welcomed all the guests and showed gratitude to them for their presence.
The speakers shared their insights on NeXTor 2.0, emphasizing the significance and impact of the initiative by East West University Investment and Finance Club.
Mr. Mamun Rashid, Chairman of Financial Excellence Limited and former Managing Director & City Country Officer of Citibank N.A., Bangladesh, highlighted the uniqueness of the event as the first capital-market-based competition of its kind implemented by any institution.
This was further reinforced by Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice Chancellor of East West University, who also attended as the programme chair.
The primary objective of NeXTor 2.0 is to create an understanding of the stock market among the country's students and provide real investment experience.
In recognition of excellence and dedication, NeXTor 2.0 featured a total prize pool of Tk 205,000.
The winner was ‘Team FMV’, from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), rewarded with Tk 50,000. The 1st Runners Up was ‘Team NSUERS from DAF’ from North South University, rewarded with Tk 30,000, and the 2nd Runners Up was ‘Team Singularity’ from East West University, rewarded with Tk 20,000. Along with monetary recognition, participants received certificates, awards, and continued learning opportunities.
