NSU holds webinar on using technology for COVID-19 response

A webinar on 'Digital Bangladesh: Technology for COVID-19 Response' was held at North South University (NSU) on Tuesday.

Infrastructure Research and Services (CISR) and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of NSU jointly organised the event from 7:30pm through Zoom app, according to a press release.

Eminent experts in the field of information technology management spoke in the occasion.

Mr MA Kashem, NSU’s Chairman of Board of Trustees, was present as the distinguished guest with NSU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Atiqul Islam in the chair.

In his speech, MA Kashem put stress on learning the best use of technology to keep pace with the fourth industrial revolution.

He urged all to move forward by solving all problems and performing own duties honestly.

NSU VC Prof. Atiqul Islam said around 1.5 billion students around the world have been affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

Like other universities of the world, he noted, The NSU is taking more than 3,000 online classes per week and attendance at these online classes is 93 per cent which is higher than usual.

The NSU VC also announced to launch modern software for taking online exams and proctoring at the same which will play a key role in tackling the current crisis.

Founder of SBK Tech Ventures and SBK Foundation Ms. Sonia Bashir Kabir, City Bank’s Head of IT Mr. Mohammad Anisur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of Spectrum Engineering Consortium Ltd and BASIS’s Vice President Mr. Mushfiqur Rahman,  founder & COO of Chaldal.com and NSU alumni Mr. Zia Ashraf, founder and Managing Director of Inspiring Bangladesh Ltd Mr Imran Fahad and Head of Prothom Alo’s Youth Programme Mr Munir Hasan were present as speakers at the virtual conference.

School of Engineering & Physical Sciences (SEPS) Dean Prof. Dr. Javed Bari, Center for Infrastructure Research and Services (CIRS) Director Prof. Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam, Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) Chair Dr. Mohammad Rezaul Bari, teachers, researchers, officials and media representatives, among others, were present at the conference.
