NSU organises 'Faculty Orientation and Development Workshop Fall 2020'

A two day-long 'Faculty Orientation and Development Workshop for fall 2020' was organised by Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at North South University (NSU) on Friday and Saturday last.

Due to the current pandemic situation, the orientation programme was conducted online via the google meet platform. New faculty members from eight departments attended the orientation programme, according to a NSU press release.

The orientation workshop began with a welcome address by IQAC Director, Prof Dr Nazmun Nahar.

Deans from School of Business and Economics, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences and School of humanities and Social Sciences were present during the inaugural session. They discussed the importance of faculty training programme.

Prof Dr M Ismail Hossain, pro vice chancellor at NSU, joining the deliberations, discussed the concepts of ethics in teaching.

He also appreciated the effort made by the IQAC team for organising this type of orientation workshop at NSU.

In the span of two days, the programme featured different sessions focusing on administrative rules and regulations at NSU, teaching and research philosophy, effective teaching and assessment methodology, Outcome Based Education (OBE) and curriculum development, Blooms Taxonomy, faculty code of conduct, ways of dealing with students and matters related to discrimination and harassment.

There was also a special segment, of the programme, on the usage of library resources and medical and psychological services available at NSU.

The programme ended with vote of thanks from the director and coordinators of IQAC. The participants also thanked the NSU authority and IQAC for organising the orientation programme.
