NSU partners with UniMed UniHealth to advance pharmaceutical research and training

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at North South University (NSU) has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd, one of the country’s leading pharmaceutical companies, to establish a long-term industry-academia partnership, according to a media statement.

The MoU was signed during a formal ceremony held at NSU’s campus. Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, and Mr M Mosaddek Hossain, Chairman of UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd., signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. The event was attended by NSU Pro-Vice Chancellor (in Charge), faculty members, researchers, and representatives from both organisations.

This strategic partnership aims to promote research and innovation, support the growth of the pharmaceutical sector, and create opportunities for students and researchers to engage in practical, industry-oriented projects.

Under this MoU, students and faculty of NSU will gain access to internships, joint research initiatives, and professional training programs at UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd. The collaboration will also encourage knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and skill development, equipping students with the expertise needed for the dynamic pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

Speaking at the event, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury highlighted the importance of the partnership, saying, “This MoU represents a significant move towards bridging the gap between academia and industry. Through this collaboration, our students will benefit from practical exposure and contribute to innovative research that supports the healthcare sector in Bangladesh.”

Mr M Mosaddek Hossain shared his optimism about the initiative, stating, “As a leading pharmaceutical company, we are dedicated to promoting research and innovation. This partnership with NSU will help develop skilled professionals and encourage groundbreaking research in the pharmaceutical field.”

Professor Md Hossain Shariare, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, noted that the collaboration will focus on areas such as pharmaceutical research, drug development, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs to support the sustainable growth of the healthcare industry.
