North South University (NSU) has welcomed students returning to their classrooms after a break of about one and a half months. Following the July Revolution, the campus has reopened filled with students eager to resume their studies in person, says a press release.
Most students arrived on campus by 9 a.m., where they were warmly welcomed by NSU faculty and staff, who distributed gifts to mark the occasion. The return to campus was met with enthusiasm, as students reconnected with peers and attended their first in-person classes in weeks.
Fouzia Afrin, a law student at NSU, expressed her appreciation, stating, "We are welcomed warmly at the campus today. I am impressed by everyone's sincerity."
BBA student Isratul Jannat expressed her feelings in almost the same tone. She said, "It feels good to be a citizen of a new Bangladesh. I hope that everything will change, and there will be reform."
The university administration has urged the teachers and students to focus on the regular academic activities.
Professor Abdur Rob Khan, treasurer and acting vice-chancellor, appointed by the Board of Trustees, said, "It feels good to see the smiling faces of the students after a long time. The students also seem to be happy to back in the classroom for sure. Everyone's cooperation is needed to continue education activities. If students have any expectations, we want to hear them.”
Redwan Rahman, a student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, reflected on the resumption of classes, noting, "Classes have started again. It is encouraging to see everyone back and to observe the changes on campus. I hope these changes will be beneficial for us."
The university administration has expressed hope that with the reopening of academic activities at North South University, the country’s educational arena will see a positive revival and growth.
