Prof Bashir Ahmed appointed acting Dean of JU Social Sciences Faculty

Professor Bashir Ahmed of the Department of Government and Politics has been appointed as the acting Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Jahangirnagar University. The information was conveyed by an office order signed by the University Registrar Rahima Kaneez yesterday (May 8).

The office order mentioned that the acting Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Jahangirnagar University, Dr Akbar Hossain, is relieved from the responsibility and the Professor of Government and Politics, Bashir Ahmed, is appointed as the acting Dean of the faculty. He will serve as Dean until further order. At this time, he will enjoy the privileges according to the prevailing rules.

Earlier on March 16, a notice was issued that Bashir Ahmed would perform the temporary duties of the acting Dean of the Faculty as Dr Md Akbar Hossain took leave to stay in Canada from March 19 to May 2 on the university holidays, summer and Eid vacation.

Professor Bashir Ahmed joined the Government and Politics Department of Jahangirnagar University on May 2000. He has previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Law, General Secretary of the Teachers Association, Director of TSC, and Chairman of the Provost Committee. 

He is also the member secretary of the convening committee of the Bangabandhu Teachers Council, an organization of the Pro-Awami League teachers of the university.
