The admission test for the 2025–26 academic session at Rajshahi University (RU) is likely to begin on January 16, 2026, much earlier than previous years, university sources said yesterday.
The decision comes as the authorities look to adjust the schedule ahead of the national election in February and the start of Ramadan shortly thereafter.
According to sources, this year’s admission test will start with the ‘A’ Unit (Humanities) on January 16, followed by the ‘B’ Unit (Business Studies) on January 17, while the ‘C’ Unit (Science) exam is expected on January 23. Preparations have already begun on the basis of these tentative dates.
Several senior teachers, who were members of last year’s admission committee and are likely to serve again this year, confirmed the matter. Requesting anonymity, one of them said, “Since the national election is scheduled for February and Ramadan will begin soon after, the university is considering holding the admission tests in January. If all goes as planned, the process will start on January 16 with the Humanities unit.”
The final schedule will be announced once the admission committee formally approves the dates, professors added.
