'Students Against Discrimination' has hired an audit firm to manage their fund collection and decided to allocate Tk 8 crore to the Relief Ministry while spending Tk 1 crore 91 lakh for flood relief efforts in North Bengal.

This information was disclosed during a press briefing held at the TSC auditorium. Additionally, the organization provided details regarding their fund collection accounts.

According to the audit report, the organization received a total of Tk 116,984,420, primarily from cash donations. Expenses for relief efforts, donations to other organizations, operational costs, and volunteer expenses totaled Tk 17,833,207. Currently, the organization has a balance of Tk 99,151,213 in its bank accounts.

Golam Fazlul Kabir, the auditor for the anti-discrimination student movement and a partner at PKF Aziz Halim Khair Chowdhury Chartered Accountants, announced the audit findings.

"We were commissioned to conduct the audit on September 10th, which we completed by September 30th. The process took a total of 20 days. The coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement had personally withdrawn money for specific needs, which was later transferred to a personal account," stated Golam Fazlul Kabir.

"Additionally, we had to count Tk 200,000 in coins. There were also revenues from selling scrap and gold, which were added later. Due to the need for transparency in income and expenditure, the accounting process took longer than usual," he added.

"There is a balance of Tk 99,151,213 in the bank account of the anti-discrimination student movement. Of this amount, it has been decided to hand over 8 crore BDT to the Disaster Management Ministry. We will transfer this amount to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief tomorrow," stated Lutfor Rahman, a coordinator of 'Students Against Discrimination'.

"A decision has also been made to allocate Tk 1 crore 91 lakh to local voluntary organizations and the local administration in response to the recent floods in North Bengal," he added.

Present at the briefing were Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, Abu Baker Majumdar, Lutfor Rahman, and several other coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement.
