Tomorrow’s leaders learn about booming capital market and how to use the opportunities

Optimity allows students to work with real-life problems concerning the financial sector

Optimity 2019, an investment and portfolio competition organised by North South University Finance Club, was held on August 04.

Optimity has been arranged targeting the young undergraduate finance and business enthusiasts of the country. It provides the students a platform to boost their skills and expertise by allowing them to work with real-life problems concerning the nation's current financial sector.

Hosted for the third consecutive year, Optimity came back this year involving 157 teams from around 22 universities all over the country. Competing with each other to highlight their skills required for becoming the future of the world of investment and portfolio management, the response from the undergraduate students was phenomenal. The online and offline registration for the competition commenced on July 29 and lasted till August 03.

NSU Finance Club ensured the engagement of the finance enthusiasts of all over the country by holding interactive roadshows in around more than 20 universities. For the convenience of the students residing outside the capital, NSU Finance Club allowed them to participate in this competition free. The key here was to furnish these brilliant youthful minds of the nation with insights regarding the Bangladesh stock market, proper investment decisions and portfolio managerial skills.

To provide the participants with more precise insights regarding the first round of the competition, industrial and financial experts conducted the first round of workshop of Optmity 2019.

The keynote speakers of the workshop were Md Sakib Chowdhury--research analyst of BRAC EPL Stock Brokerage Limited, Md Rafiqul Islam, Md Mahirul Quddus, and Ahmed Zaki Khan--all research associates of BRAC EPL Stock Brokerage Limited.

The workshop was inaugurated at 6 pm on August 04 at the main auditorium of North South University.

The participants learnt about the booming capital market and how to use the opportunities. The conclusion of the workshop marked the beginning of the first competitive round. The second round is set to take place from August 18 auspiciously.

The grand finale of Optimity 2019 will take place on August 29. The best teams from across the country will present their finesse and smart solutions there. The grand finale will be hosted as a Finance Symposium in North South University premises and will be attended by professional corporate tycoons from top financial and corporate institutions.

NSU Finance Club is a co-curricular club under the Department of Accounting and Finance. The club has been growing very fast since its inception in 2014.

The club provides a platform for the development of personal and professional skills of its dedicated members through organising significant intra and inter-university competitions and events.
