UGC approves Tk 116.90 billion for 55 public universities

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved Tk 116.90 billion for 55 public universities for the 2024-25 fiscal year which sees only a 5.5 per cent hike of government grant to the budget.  

It also approved the revised budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year of Tk 90.15 billion. Besides, the budget of UGC with its own income of Tk 874 million was approved.

The budget was approved at the 167th full commission meeting at the UGC headquarters on Wednesday with the UGC Chairman (additional duty) Prof Muhammad Alamgir in the chair.

Dhaka University got the highest budget as the previous year.
