VUMI Bangladesh, an employment-oriented virtual education platform, has been launched to enhance the job-oriented skills of Bangladeshi youths.

By participating in various courses there, the youth can improve their skill and enter the job market easily, says a media release.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi inaugurated 'VUMI Bangladesh Limited' at a city hotel on Thursday.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Faruque Hassan, Chairman of VUMI Bangladesh Limited Kutubuddin Ahmed, Senior vice chairman of the organisation Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, BGMEA Director and Managing Director of VUMI Asif Ashraf were also present at the function.

The commerce minister highlighted the importance of digital Bangladesh in increasing youth employment.

He said, “Our youth will get employment-oriented education through this platform. This will help them to enter the job market. They can easily get a job by acquiring education or skills from this.”

Chairman of VUMI Bangladesh Limited Kutubuddin Ahmed said, “Currently Bangladesh has 45.0 million working-age people. This is a huge opportunity for us. If this huge population can be made competent by imparting relevant knowledge, they will be able to make maximum use of their potential in their respective fields of work.”

The speakers said that the VUMI Bangladesh will be established as a virtual university in the future.

“In order to compete in the international arena and to meet the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we need to build knowledge and skilled human resources accordingly,” the speaker said.

“When we look at our education sector, we see the number of graduates is increasing day by day. But it is not able to provide the required skilled human resources in our job market.

Graduates have to fight in the job market as the conventional education system is not practical and up-to-date.”

BGMEA Director and Managing Director of VUMI Bangladesh Asif Ashraf said, “VUMI will meet the demand of the job market and bring timely courses available online. It’s a high-quality virtual platform. It will be an affordable solution for those who want to acquire skills through education and increase their chances of employment. It is even possible to collaborate online with foreign universities.”
