Youth-led non-profit YOUReach (Youth in Research and Action for Social Change) observed International Youth Day at the University of Rajshahi on August 28, calling on young people to take the lead in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The programme, held at the Deans Complex, was attended by students, teachers and officials. University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Saleh Hasan Naqib joined as chief guest.
Speakers stressed the power of youth in social transformation. Dr. Parvez Azharul Haq termed young people “leaders of progress,” while Prof. Dr. Md. Nurul Momen urged strong local initiatives for the SDGs. Renowned researcher Prof. Dr. Md. Yeamin Hossain called research the “engine of progress.”
City Corporation official Md Azizur Rahman noted youth engagement in urban cleanliness and public health.
Moreover, an outstanding documentary highlighted YOUReach projects, including “Trash to Treasure” (school waste management) and “Healthy Mothers, Healthier Children” (nutrition in slum areas).
YOUReach pledged to continue mobilising Rajshahi youth through research and action to drive sustainable change.
