18th Asian Art Biennale to begin on Sept 1

The 18th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh will begin at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on September 1 next.

Academy officials disclosed the details of the Art Biennale on Tuesday.

The month-long exhibition will display two and three-dimensional artworks like painting, print, photography, sculpture, installation, performance art and new media art.

A total of 250 foreign artists with more than 350 artworks and 200 Bangladeshi artists with 200 artworks will participate in the mega exhibition, reports UNB.

There will be two seminars on the topics of 'Art and contemporary narrative' and 'Art pedagogy and promotion' on September 2-3.

A jury panel comprising of five members with two from Bangladesh and one each from France, India and Spain will be responsible for judgment of displayed artworks and will select best artworks for three grand prizes and six honorary prizes.

Recipients of grand prizes and honour prizes will be awarded in the inauguration ceremony of the Art Biennale.

There will be a grand opening of the forthcoming exhibition, cultural programme, special dinners, river cruise, seminars and workshops, visits to historical places on September1-5 on the occasion of the forthcoming exhibition which will continue till September 30.
