4-day ‘Dhaka Int’l Foto Fest’ starts Sunday

A four-day international photography festival titled “Dhaka Int’l Foto Fest-2019” is set to begin in the capital on January 27.

With a view to increasing the practice of the art of photography, Dhaka University Photographic Society (DUPS) is arranging the festival in beyond the international border at Teacher-Student Center (TSC) of DU, Faculty of Fine Arts and gallery 5 & 6 of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy premises, according to a DUPS press release.

Bangladesh Tourism Board sponsored the exhibition.

In this fest, 145 single photographs taken by photographers of Bangladesh along with photographers of seven other countries will be exhibited, the organisers said at a press conference held at the office of Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA).

According to the DUPS, 16 photo stories also will be exhibited. The festival will begin by a colourful rally at 9:00am from TSC on January 27. The inauguration and prize giving ceremony will be held at 11:00am in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, MP, will be present at the programme as the chief guest, reports BSS.

This exhibition will continue from 11:00am to 8:00pm every day for all. From the second day, programmes such as Meet the judge session, Artist talk, Box camera photography, portfolio review and documentary film show on photography will be arranged for the young photographers.
