Margot Robbie, who brought the villainous DC character ‘Harley Quinn’ to the big screen in last summer’s Suicide Squad, just shared details about another Harley Quinn project.
This time, the Australian actress is developing a solo film that is "totally separate" from projects such as 'Gotham City Sirens,' the rumored Joker/Harley team-up movie or 'Suicide Squad 2.'
Although Suicide Squad wasn't exactly a hit with critics, it was a box office success and most fans agree that Margot Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn was one of its highlights.
So it’s unsurprising that the actor and Warner Bros are developing a spinoff project for the character.
Perhaps more surprising is the fact that it’s just one of a number of Harley-centric movies in development, and this latest one she's speaking of doesn't seem to have been reported on before.
“I’ve been working on a separate spin-off for Harley Quinn for a while now,” Robbie recently told MTV, clarifying that the movie is its own discrete entity. “I don’t think anyone knows what’s gonna be the next thing to happen, but I think everyone’s keen to get Harley back on screen.”
"I want to see her with other women," she added. "I kept saying when we were shooting 'Suicide Squad,' she needs her girlfriends."
It has already been established that Robbie, currently making the awards-season rounds for her performance in I, Tonya, is one of the busiest stars in Hollywood, according to global agencies.
She’s also signed on to produce a number of films, including the sci-fi thriller Augmented and a collaboration with Elizabeth Banks titled Paper Bag Princess, among the numerous other projects (including a potential starring role in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film).
