2,500 patients get free treatment at KAMPS’s medical camp

More than 2,500 poor patients received free treatment and necessary medicine at a ‘Free Medical Camp’ at Hatibandha of Shakhipur in Tangail on Wednesday.

Kidney Awareness Monitoring and Prevention Society (KAMPS), a voluntary healthcare-providing organisation, arranged the camp in honour of the language martyrs, marking the International Mother Language Day.

KAMPS has organised the event for the last 14 consecutive years, according to statement.

A team of more than 20 physicians and technologists, led by renowned Kidney specialist and also Chief Consultant (Kidney Department) of Lab Aid Specialised Hospital Prof Dr MA Samad, provided treatment to the patients.

Patients, suffering from various diseases relating to kidney, heart, liver, gastro, diabetes and ENT problems, received the treatment. Besides, more than 100 aged poor eye patients have been enrolled for free cataract surgery. Necessary laboratory tests, including USG and ECG, were conducted.

A total of 2,040 patients were examined of whom 26 per cent were suffering from kidney diseases, 40 per cent diabetes and 31 per cent high blood pressure.

As part of the daylong programme, a discussion on prevention of the kidney disease was held.

Former Chairman of ACC and presently President of Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) Golam Rahman attended the discussion as chief guest with Chief Adviser of KAMPS and also former General Manager of Bangladesh Bank Md Abdul Malek in the chair.
