DGHS to launch guideline on heat-related illnesses on Sunday

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in Bangladesh will launch a national guideline on heat-related illnesses with UNICEF’s support on Sunday.

The guideline, developed in collaboration with experts from health and other sectors, will provide a comprehensive framework for responding effectively to heat-related health risks, according to UNB.

Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen, State Minister for Health Dr Rokeya Sultana, Secretary to Health Services Division Md Jahangir Alam, UNICEF Bangladesh’s Representative Emma Brigham, Director General of Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam are expected to attend the event, among others.

In a statement, UNICEF on Saturday said the guideline will help the authorities in ensuring the well-being of citizens, particularly vulnerable children, pregnant women and their unborn children.
