Health minister Zahid Maleque said on Monday his government would provide all-out support, including financial assistance, to complete the trial of the TB-005 dengue vaccine in the country.
The second-phase trial has been done by the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) and it showed effectiveness in the second-phase trial on adults and children.
The minister said the government would provide all-out cooperation in the third-phase trial of this vaccine.
Calling the icddr,b is a reputable institution, he said, "The vaccine that is being tried in our country is still in the trial stage."
"Earlier, the institute played an important role in the discovery of cholera vaccine. We'll render all cooperation this time too."
The minister said the third-phase trial would be crucial for future vaccinations. Financial support is needed for this. A state initiative is being made.
He made the assurance emerging from an event in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, deaths in the deadly mosquito-borne dengue fever continue as 11 more people died on Monday, including Dhaka's seven fatalities.
With the fresh deaths, the total number of fatalities now stood at 1,017, including 655 from Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
This year's dengue cases have so far risen to 208,884 with 2,596 new cases of hospitalisation across the country.
The dengue casualties are highest in the last 23 years in the country.
The new admitted cases were reported until 8:00 am on Monday across the country, including Dhaka's 607, according to the daily update by the DGHS.
Dengue appears to coincide with the rainy season from May to September and higher temperatures in Bangladesh, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The ever-worsening dengue situation shows no signs of abatement with the growing number of cases and deaths.
Furthermore, the health authorities continued to report a growing number of new cases outside Dhaka.
Of the new cases of hospitalisation, 1,989 were reported from outside Dhaka.
Of the total cases, according to the health directorate, 84,458 were from Dhaka.
A total of 9,283 people were being treated at hospitals across the country. Of them, 3,120 were from Dhaka.
Of the total admitted cases, 198,584 patients made recovery and returned home, including 80,683 from Dhaka, with a 95-per cent recovery rate.
Last year, 281 people died due to dengue, the second highest in the history of the country.
