Govt to pass Tobacco Control Ordinance 2025 soon: Dr Sayedur Rahman

The government will soon take steps to pass the Tobacco Control Ordinance 2025 to protect public health, Dr Sayedur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said on Monday.

“The process to pass the Tobacco Control Ordinance 2025 is ongoing. The country will run smoothly if youths remain healthy,” he said at a views-exchange meeting on the ordinance at Biswa Sahitya Kendra in Dhaka, organized by Nari Maitree.

Sheikh Momena Moni, Additional Secretary of the Health Services Division (World Health Wing); Md Mostafizur Rahman, former chairman of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation; and Prof Dr Golam Mohiuddin Faruque, president of the Bangladesh Cancer Society, were also present.

Nari Maitree Executive Director Shaheen Akhter Dolly presided over the meeting.
