Following the detection of three mpox cases in Pakistan, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has launched a hotline in Bangladesh as a precautionary measure.

The health directorate has advised contacting 16263 and 10655 as quickly as possible if anyone shows symptoms of mpox.

Monkeypox (mpox) is an infectious disease caused by the mpox virus. It can lead to painful rashes, swollen lymph nodes, and fever, the DGHS said in a press release on Saturday.

The virus has spread to many countries around the world, including Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya in Central Africa, the release said.

"If you notice any symptoms of mpox, come into contact with an infected person, or experience symptoms within 21 days of traveling to an infected country, please contact 16263 or 10655", the release added.
