Measles: 8 more children die, 53 new confirmed cases

Eight more children with suspected cases of measles have died in a 24-hour count.

Meanwhile, 53 confirmed cases of measles have also been recorded in the country.

So far, 90 people have died of confirmed measles cases since Mar 15, according to the regular bulletin from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday. Another 493 with suspected cases of measles have also died over the period.

So far, the Dhaka Division has seen the most deaths with 199, while Rajshahi has registered 84.

The DGHS says that alongside the 53 confirmed cases, another 1,033 patients with measles symptoms have gone to hospitals. Of them, 907 have been admitted.

Dhaka hospitals are handling the most cases with 359, while Rangpur is treating the least with 11.
