President for reasonable cost of cancer treatment

President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday urged the authorities concerned to take initiatives so that treatment cost of cancer diseases remain within the common people's reach.

President Abdul Hamid made the call when a five-member delegation of Bangladesh Medical Physics Society (BMPS), led by its founder president and vice president Prof DrHasin Anupama Azhari, paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban on Tuesday afternoon.

During the meeting, the BMPS delegation apprised the President of the International Conference on Medical Physics in Radiation Oncology and Imaging (ICMPRI), said President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin.

Besides, the delegation also informed the President about various activities of their organisation, he said.

During the meeting, President Abdul Hamid said the spread of cancer disease has been increasing gradually in Bangladesh. The treatment of cancer is expensive too, Joynal Abedin said quoting the President.

He urged the BMPS to work for towards raising awareness on the grassroots level so that the common people can play a role in prevention and treatment of cancer.

Besides, the President also called upon them to come forward so that cancer treatment remains within the reach of the general people. The president urged it (BMPS) to come forward with a specific proposal in this regard, the President's Press Secretary said, reports UNB.
