Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen on Friday that the Sitakundu Upazila Health Complex will be upgraded to a 100-bed hospital from a 50-bed one.
“I have already approved the proposal to upgrade the hospital. The upgrading work will begin soon. Besides, emergency medical services will be ensured by appointing a surgeon in Chattogram,” he added.
The health minister told journalists after visiting the Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex in Chattogram on Friday afternoon.
Earlier, the health minister visited the hospital and got his diabetes checked at the pathology department. He also visited different beds and talked to the patients.
Alhaj SM Al Mamun, MP, Health Secretary Md Jahangir Alam, Health DG Professor Dr ABM Khurshid Alam, Director of Administration Dr Samiul Islam, departmental director Dr Md Mohiuddin, civil surgeon Dr Md Ilias Chowdhury, upazila Nirbahi officer KM Rafiqul Islam, municipal mayor, Muktijuddah Alhaj Badiul Alam, upazila health and family planning officer Dr Nur Uddin and Family Planning Officer Ziaul Quader, among others, accompanied the minister during the visit.
